Engagement Campaigns Result in Record Month for LotteryHUB™

Downloads double and app engagement skyrockets in first weeks of February

AUSTIN, Texas (February 17, 2015). Shoutz, Inc. engaged with a record number of lottery players during the period of excitement surrounding the recent $564 million Powerball jackpot.  Increases in downloads and overall engagement have solidified LotteryHUB’s reputation as the most comprehensive mobile experience for lottery players.

LotteryHUB™ is an official mobile app of both Powerball and Mega Millions(R), available for free on the Google Play and Apple’s iTunes app stores.  The app offers lottery players a convenient, engaging and rewarding experience that compliments their favorite games with video and news content, drawing information, a loyalty rewards program, and ticket tracking tools.

Shoutz’s engagement strategies during the period leading up to Powerball’s third-largest jackpot win on Feb. 11 helped drive a significant increase in app downloads and overall engagement.  During the two weeks before the drawing, LotteryHUB was downloaded 42 percent more times than in the average month in 2014. New users represented 37 percent of app traffic – twice the average – during the same period, and were least likely to leave the app.

In terms of activity, LotteryHUB users were much more engaged with the app’s tools, resources and content.  About 11 times the average number of users tracked tickets with LotteryHUB, and the number of lottery number lines tracked per user grew by more than 340 percent.  Video views increased about 324 percent, and the five days surrounding the Feb. 11 drawing saw a 189 percent increase in unique user traffic.

The huge increase in downloads also generated growth in registrations for LotteryHUB’s loyalty program.  As compared to the average through 2014, the percentage of new user registrations doubled during the beginning of February, reaching 67.1 percent.

Finally, Shoutz has seen advertising impressions double, on average, through the month of February, not including the day of the drawing, when impressions jumped 1,700 percent.  To date, LotteryHUB, has delivered more than 40 million messages and has hosted more than 5 million video views.

LotteryHUB revolutionized the use of mobile as an engagement tool for lotteries, but it also created a new revenue stream for lotteries by serving third-party advertising.  Jumps in impressions generated will provide surplus revenue for the good causes that Shoutz’s partners, MUSL member lotteries, support.
